True Love?

Music has always been very influential in my life; sometimes for the good, and sometimes for the bad. I've had this thought on my mind for a while now about music's influence on love so I'd like to share my personal experience. I've noticed that in the past, listening to a secular love song has stirred up feelings of lust and it has also put my thinking pattern in a kind of worship mode for my object of desire. As a new Christian, the music I now listen to that testifies of Christ sets my worship on the One that DESERVES worship and my love for Him is certainly not of the flesh. Christian music reminds me of what God has done for me-the love that He gave me first. His love is true and pure, a sacrificial love, a love that gives grace, a love that gives forgiveness, a love that gives eternal life:

1 John 4:9-10
I believe that love is only pure if we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us.
1 John 4:12-13

Christ' love for us demonstrated through His time on earth is the perfect example, the ONLY perfect example, of a pure love. If we want to love as purely as Christ, we have to have Christ in our lives because He will share His heart with us. When someone is saved, we will rejoice! When someone is hurt, we will weep! When someone needs to be loved, we will love! It is only through Jesus.

Put away the world's view on love and ask God for Christ' heart. There is nothing that can compare to the love that Christ has.
